Manuel Oliveira Obituary

Cranston - Manuel Oliveira,102, a cherished patriarch and respected veteran, passed away peacefully at his home in Cranston, RI, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Born on April 22, 1923, in Providence, RI, Manuel was a man of great character and devotion, known for his loving nature, faith-filled spirit, and selfless demeanor.

Manuel was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Silva) Oliveira and the son of the late Aldifico and Mary (Perry) Oliveira. His life was a testament to hard work, family values, and service to his country and community. He leaves behind a legacy through his children: Thomas Oliveira of Coventry, Craig Oliveira of Warwick, Joseph Oliveira of Providence, Diana Perry of Warwick, Deborah Oliveira of Providence, and Carol Gardner of Cranston. His memory will be treasured by his 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who will miss their grandfather's warmth and guidance.

Predeceased by his children, Kirk Oliveira and Patricia Oliveira, Manuel is also survived by his brother Eugene "Gene" Oliveira of California. He was preceded in death by his siblings Joseph Oliveira, Clem Oliveira, Nora, Deolinda Caverly, and Marion Oliveira. His extended family of nieces and nephews will fondly remember their Uncle Manuel's kindness and the stories of his well-lived life. He was a Cranston resident for the last 21 years, coming from North Providence and previously East Providence, He was a former parishioner of Sacred heart Church in East Providence.

Manuel proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during World War II. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and successful career as a truck driver for Holmes Transportation Company, where he remained for over four decades. Even in retirement, Manuel continued to contribute his talents, working for Norad in North Kingstown for an additional 20 years, offering his support in the office.

An active member of his community, Manuel was a lifetime member of the VFW in North Providence and a regular at the local fishing club, where he shared his passion for the outdoors with fellow enthusiasts. His love for fishing was only surpassed by the joy he found in the company of his family and grandchildren, with whom he spent countless cherished moments.

Manuel Oliveira's life was a journey marked by dedication, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to the ones he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but his influence will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we say goodbye to a man who was the very embodiment of love and selflessness, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the indelible mark he left on this world.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 10:00am – 12:00pm in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a prayer service in the funeral home at 12:00pm.
