East Providence -Manuel Pavao Pacheco, known fondly as Manuel to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at his residence in East Providence on July 2nd, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on May 4th, 1929, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, Manuel was a beacon of love and faith throughout his remarkable life.
Manuel was the cherished husband of the late Esmerald (Morris) Pacheco and the beloved son of his late parents. His legacy continues through his devoted children: Albert Pacheco and his wife Aileen, Ricardo Pacheco, Nelia "Nelli" Bandarra, Rosie Grassley and her husband Paul, and Telmena Forte and her husband George, all of whom reside in East Providence, except for Telmena who lives in Cranston. Manuel's joy was multiplied as he was blessed to be the grandfather of Derek, Brian, Stephanie, Vanessa, Adrianna, Larenza, Jordan, Desi, Jesse, Nicky, and Emily, and the great-grandfather of fourteen. He has lived in East Providence for almost 50 years, having lived in Newport, Providence and previously in Sao Miguel.
For over 27 years, Manuel served with dedication in the Laundry Department of Rhode Island Hospital. Even after his retirement, his colleagues remembered him for his unwavering work ethic and warm camaraderie. Manuel was also a devout parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church, where his faith-filled presence was a constant source of comfort and inspiration to the church community.
Manuel's passion for gardening was evident to anyone who visited his home; his gardens were a lush testament to his patience and nurturing spirit. The fruits of his labor not only beautified his surroundings but also brought together family and friends for many memorable occasions.
Loving, kind, and faith-filled are words that best describe Manuel. He was a man who lived his beliefs and extended his kindness to all he met. His gentle demeanor and genuine concern for others left a lasting impact on his community and everyone he interacted with.
Manuel's story is one of a journey well-traveled, a life well-lived, and a legacy of love that will continue to flourish in the hearts of those he touched. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in the countless memories and the enduring love he shared with us all.
His final resting place will be alongside his beloved wife, Esmeralda, a testament to their everlasting bond.
As the sun sets on Manuel's earthly chapter, we are reminded of his love for gardening—a love that symbolizes growth, renewal, and the eternal cycle of life. Manuel Pavao Pacheco's spirit, like the gardens he tended so lovingly, will continue to bloom in the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy rich in love, kindness, and faith.
