Hope - Manuel E. Martins, known affectionately as Manny to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at his home on August 17, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on June 2, 1948, in the scenic island of Faial in the Azores, Manuel was a devoted son to his late parents, Manuel Duarte Martins and Emilia (Matos) Martins. His life was a testament to the enduring strength of love, hard work, and family values.
Manny's journey alongside his beloved wife, Anna (Correia) Martins, spanned over 55 wonderful years, a true partnership that was blessed with laughter, joy, and unwavering support. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their daughter Judy Amaral and her husband Albert of Scituate, daughter Lisa Caldarone and her husband Brian of Cranston, and remembered with love their late son Manuel E. Martins, Jr. Manuel's legacy continued through his siblings, brother Joseph Martins and his wife Gabriella of Chepachet, and brother Roger Martins and his wife Annette of Johnston, who will hold cherished memories of times spent with their brother.
A proud and loving grandfather, Manny's joy was multiplied with the arrival of each grandchild: Jordan and Brittany Amaral, Ashley Paiva, Zachary and Austin Martins, Jackson, and Ava Caldarone. His role expanded with the birth of his great-granddaughter, Lenna Paiva, bringing even more happiness into his life. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Manny's entrepreneurial spirit led him to found and operate Martins Maintenance Incorporated since 1978. His professional journey began with roles at International Packaging and Davol Rubber Company, where he honed the skills and determination that would later define his successful business venture. A respected member of his community, Manuel was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, where he found solace and fellowship.
Beyond his business acumen, Manny's passions included a love for cars, fishing, and hunting. These interests allowed him to create lasting memories with friends and family, often serving as the backdrop for stories that will be retold for generations. Known for his generous spirit and kind heart, Manuel was the embodiment of selflessness, always placing the needs of others before his own.
Manny's gentle demeanor and loving nature were the cornerstones upon which he built his life. His devotion to his family was unparalleled, a beacon of what it means to live a life filled with purpose and love. The words that best describe Manuel—loving, selfless, gentle—only begin to capture the essence of a man whose impact on those around him was profound and whose presence will be deeply missed.
As we say farewell to Manuel E. Martins, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and honor the legacy he leaves behind. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us of the power of kindness and the importance of cherishing every moment with those we hold dear. Manuel's life story will be forever etched in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
