Providence, RI - Margarida M. Silva, 70, a longtime resident of the Fox Point section of Providence, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on Friday, July 19, 2024. Born on August 22, 1953, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she was a loving daughter of the late Joao M. Silva and Maria (Medeiros) Silva.
Margarida spent her formative years in Sao Miguel and migrated to the United States in 1972, settling in Fox Point. She was employed for many years by the Monet Jewelry Company until her retirement. A woman of devout Catholic faith, Margarida was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Fox Point. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found great solace and joy in her church community.
Margarida had a passion for travel, often making trips to visit relatives in Canada and to return to her place of nativity, Sao Miguel. Her favorite times were those spent in the company of her adoring family, whom she loved deeply.
She is survived by her brothers: John F. Silva and his wife Luisa; and Fernando C. Silva and his wife Natalia, all of Riverside. She also leaves her cherished nieces and nephews: Jeffrey Silva, Michael Silva, Stephanie Silva, Jennifer Andreozzi, and Kyla Pereira; as well as great-nieces and great-nephews: Brendan Richards, Logan Silva, Jackson Andreozzi, Charlotte Andreozzi, and Noah Pereira. She was the sister of the late Joseph Silva and Gabriela Silva.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. The day will begin with a time for visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in her honor by the Reverend Joseph Escobar at 11:00 AM in the church. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside.
Margarida M. Silva will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
