Maria C. (Rodrigues) Barbosa,79, of Providence, a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and a loving matriarch of her large family, passed away at Landmark Hospital, Woonsocket, RI, on July 26, 2023. A native of Sao Miguel, Azores, Maria was born on December 17, 1943, the daughter of the late Manuel Raposo Rodrigues, and Maria da Conceicao (Vieira) Rodrigues and she spent her years with kindness, grace, and gentle spirit.
She was the wife of the late Manuel C. Barbosa.
Maria was a dedicated and hardworking woman, spending many years as a Jewelry Assembler for the John Medeiros Jewelry Company. Her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to her craft was admired by her colleagues and appreciated by the countless individuals who wore the pieces she helped create. Despite her professional achievements, Maria's most cherished role was that of a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by her three children, Jose Barbosa of Harrisville, RI, Susana Pimentel of Warwick, RI, and Maria Grace Matos of Providence. Her love and guidance shaped their lives and instilled in them a deep sense of family and faith. Her legacy is also carried forward by her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Maria was the sister of Joao Rodrigues and Manuel Rodrigues, both of Sao Miguel, Conceicao Pimentel and Irene Carvalho, both of Providence, and Natalia Pascoal of Quebec, Canada. She was predeceased by her brother, Jose Rodrigues. Maria also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, each of whom will remember her for her boundless love and unwavering faith.
A woman of deep faith, Maria was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Her faith guided her through life and was a source of comfort and strength for her. She was an example of devotion and piety, and her faith-filled life serves as an inspiration for all who knew her.
Maria had a profound love for nature and found great joy in tending to her garden. She had a particular fondness for her flowers, which she nurtured with the same care and love she gave to her family. Her garden was a reflection of her - vibrant, beautiful, and full of life.
To know Maria was to experience love in its purest form. She was nurturing, kind, and gentle, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was a beacon of love and faith, and her gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
Maria C. (Rodrigues) Barbosa's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her and will be remembered for her loving nature, her faith-filled life, and her gentle spirit. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who loved her.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence.
Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
