North Providence -Maria D. (DaSilva) DaRosa, affectionately known as Maria to her friends and family, passed away peacefully at Hope Hospice on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on October 12, 1946, in Faial Azores, Maria was a beacon of love and wisdom, whose faith-filled, creative presence touched many lives.
Maria was the cherished wife of the late Jose S. DaRosa, and together they built a life filled with joy and devotion. She was the beloved daughter of the late Jose F. and Maria DaGloria (Vargas) DaSilva, and a nurturing mother to her children, Salvador DaRosa of East Providence, Maria Santiago of Pawtucket, Noemia Pacheco of North Providence, Vievaldina Marin of North Carolina, and the late Jose E. DaRosa and Maria Fatima Soc. Maria's legacy extends to her 25 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, who will remember her for her boundless love and the wisdom she imparted.
Maria's siblings, Alda Cardoso of St Lawrence, California, and the late Maria Aldina DaSilva, Leontina DaSilva, and Balbina DaSilva, shared in the joys and sorrows of life with her, creating a family tapestry rich with memories. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, who found in her a second mother and a guiding light.
After moving to East Providence in 1979 from California, and previously from Faial, Maria quickly became an integral part of the community. She worked as a school bus driver for the East Providence School Department for several years, where her caring nature and steadfast presence made her a favorite among students and staff alike.
Maria was a devout parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church, where her faith found expression in service and fellowship. She was also an active member of the Brightridge Club Holy Ghost, contributing to the community spirit that she so cherished.
Her interests were a reflection of her love for life and people. Maria found joy in baking, her recipes bringing together family and friends over shared meals and celebrations. Boating was another passion, allowing her to revel in the tranquility of nature and the company of loved ones.
Maria will be remembered as a loving soul, a wise guide, and a woman of deep faith. Her ability to face life's challenges with grace and to find joy in everyday moments was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her memory will be a treasure held in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have been part of her life's journey.
As we bid farewell to Maria D. (DaSilva) DaRosa, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a spirit that will continue to guide us from above. Her light will shine brightly in our memories, and her lessons of love and faith will endure for generations to come.
