Maria Manuela (Fagundes) Freitas

East Providence -Maria Manuela Freitas, known to all as Maria, passed away peacefully at her home in East Providence on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the age of 83. Born in the picturesque island of Faial in the Azores on February 17, 1943, to the late Candido A. and Bertha (Silva) Fagundes, Maria was a beacon of faith and love throughout her life.

Maria's journey led her from the lush landscapes of the Azores to the warm community of East Providence, where she would build her life and family. She was the cherished wife of the late Joao Aguiar Freitas, and together they created a home filled with love and faith. Maria was a devoted mother to her sons, John Freitas of East Providence, and the late Robert Freitas. Her caring nature extended to her siblings, including her brother Helder Fagundes of California, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond.

Professionally, Maria was a dedicated packer at Martin-Copeland Jewelry manufacturing, where she spent many years contributing her meticulous skills and warm camaraderie. Her colleagues will remember her as a hardworking and reliable team member who always lent a helping hand.

Maria's interests reflected her serene and thoughtful nature, with her most cherished pastime being the study of the Bible. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and interactions with everyone she met. Maria lived her faith; she was faith-filled, loving, and gentle, touching the lives of all who knew her with her kindness and grace.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Maria will recall her gentle smile, her soothing presence, and the love she so freely gave. She was a woman who nurtured her family with tenderness, faced life's challenges with quiet strength, and inspired those around her to embrace life with positivity.
