Maria J. (Carvalho) Medeiros

East Providence - Maria J. (Carvalho) Medeiros, 87, a cherished figure known lovingly as Maria, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Cedar Crest Nursing Home in Cranston. Born in the beautiful São Miguel Azores on September 30, 1937, Maria's journey was marked by courage, selflessness, and an unwavering faith that guided her through a life rich in love and dedication to her family.

Maria was the beloved wife of the late Jose Cabral Medeiros and the treasured daughter of the late Manuel and Hilda (Pereira) Carvalho. Her vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by her adoring children: John Medeiros of Foster, Fatima Benson of East Providence, Maria Oliveira and her husband Joseph of Foster, Hilda Therriault and her husband Todd of East Providence, Deborah Hipolito of Florida, Stella Santiago of Providence  and she was predeceased by her son Joe A. Medeiros. Her legacy continues through her sisters Maria Dos Anjos of Riverside, and her sister-in-law Helena Carvalho of Seekonk, and she joins her late brother John Carvalho in eternal rest.

Maria's love knew no bounds, and this was evident in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the proud grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of 13, each of whom brought immense joy and purpose to her life. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Her family was her greatest treasure, and the memories they created will be cherished for generations.

Throughout her life, Maria demonstrated an admirable work ethic, contributing over a decade of service making jewelry boxes for Numaco Plastics. Her craftsmanship was a testament to her attention to detail and her pride in a job well done.

Beyond her professional achievements, Maria was a woman of many talents and passions. She had a gift for cooking, often found creating delicious meals that brought her family together around the table. Her talent extended to music, where she expressed her creativity and passion through the strings of her guitar. As a seamstress, she crafted numerous pieces of clothing for her loved ones, each stitch a symbol of her love and care.

Maria's life was a reflection of her enduring courage, selflessness, and faith. She approached every challenge with strength and every joy with gratitude. Those who knew her were inspired by her resilience and comforted by her unwavering support.

As we say farewell to Maria, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire. She may have departed from this world, but her spirit remains a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her. Maria's memory will be held in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched with her kindness and warmth. Rest in peace, dear Maria, until we meet again.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 30,2025 at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence.  Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery,550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are Sunday from 1:00pm-4:00pm in the funeral home.
