Maria C. (Luis) Oliver

Maria C. (Luis) Oliver,59, lovingly known as Maria, passed away on April 21, 2026, at RI Hospital in Providence, after a life marked by devotion, kindness, and deep love for her family. Born on August 11, 1966, in the Azores, Portugal, she carried with her the values of hard work, warmth, and togetherness throughout her life. She will be remembered as a loving, thoughtful, and selfless woman whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around her.

Maria was the beloved wife of Gary Oliver, and together they shared more than 40 years of marriage filled with love, partnership, and enduring commitment. Their life together was a beautiful example of devotion and strength, and the bond they shared was evident to all who knew them. She was a cherished daughter of the late Januario and Ilda (DeMelo) Luis, and the love of her family remained at the center of everything she did throughout her life.

She was a devoted mother to Jennifer Case and her husband Joshua of Riverside, and Lindsey Oliver and her partner Stephanie Mercier of East Providence. Maria took great pride in her children and found immense happiness in being part of their lives. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Major Case, and her heart was fullest when she was with her family. Her role as a mother and grandmother was one she embraced with tenderness, patience, and unwavering support.

Maria was also a dear sister to Armando Luis of Riverside, Fernando Luis of East Providence, Angela Luis of East Providence, Luisa Luis of North Providence, and Alina Luis of East Providence. The ties she shared with her siblings were an important part of her life, and she valued the closeness of family in a way that reflected her generous spirit. She leaves behind many who will miss her deeply and hold her memory close in the years ahead.

For over 20 years, Maria worked as an Assembler for the EFD Company. She was known for her dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic. Her long career reflected the same steady commitment she brought to every part of her life. She took pride in her work and was respected by those who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Outside of work, Maria found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and gardening, and these hobbies reflected her nurturing nature and her appreciation for creating beauty and comfort. Above all else, her favorite thing was attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school activities and simply being there for them. Those moments brought her great happiness, and her support was a constant source of encouragement and love to her family.

Maria’s life was one of quiet strength, deep affection, and steadfast devotion. She was the kind of person who gave freely of herself and made others feel seen, supported, and loved. Her thoughtful nature and selfless heart touched everyone who knew her. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but also for the love she gave so willingly and the lasting example she leaves behind.

Though her passing leaves a profound sadness, Maria’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a blessing, and her legacy of love, family, and kindness will remain an enduring source of comfort and inspiration.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 28,2026 at 10:00am in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI, burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail East Providence.
