Seekonk - Martin J. Leandro, 69, a loving father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Massachusetts. Martin, who was fondly known by friends and family as "Marty", left this world, surrounded by loved ones and memories of a life well-lived.
Born on September 13, 1955, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to the late James Leandro and Bertha Patrice Martin-Leandro-Vavala. Martin's journey through life was marked by his steadfast commitment to his family and his career. After completing his education, Martin embarked on a significant career as a Chemical and Machine Operator with training in safety and hazmat.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Martin was proud to have served in the Army National Guard, where he demonstrated his love for his country and the values of honor and duty. Martin made his home in Seekonk for over four decades. He was a familiar face and a helping hand, known for his selflessness and his readiness to support others whenever the need arose.
He leaves behind a loving family, who will cherish his memory and carry forward his legacy. Martin was the former husband of Cheryl Legault-Roberts and a devoted father to Jen Grannis, Amanda Leandro, and Missy Leandro. He was also a caring brother to Scott Leandro and his wife Diane of Westport, and a loving uncle to Gary, Tommy, Valerie and Vicki. His role as a grandfather to Blake Dolinski filled him with immense pride and joy, and their shared moments will be remembered forever with great fondness.
Martin's interests painted the picture of a man who loved life and enjoyed hobbies such as reading, gaming, movies, playing pool, and listening to sports radio while rooting for the Patriots. His love for reading was a testament to his ever-curious mind and his enjoyment of sports radio kept him connected to the pulse of the sports world. Described by those who knew him as loving, kind, and selfless man, Martin was the type of person who always had your back.
His presence was a source of comfort and strength, and his actions were guided by his generous heart, this made him a father figure to many. Marty’s life was a journey marked by love, service, and an unshakeable commitment to those he held dear. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared with him and the indelible mark he has left on our lives.
His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the wake and service. Calling hours will be held Friday June 13, 2025, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the REBELLO Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held the following day on Saturday June 14th at 11:00am in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence.
