Michael “Mike” Hainey, 74, of Seekonk MA died peacefully at home on December 16 2025 after a short illness. Mike is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Dorothy Susan “Sue” Hainey. Their 50th Anniversary was on November 22 2025. They said “marrying someone you get along with” is the secret to their long marriage.
Mike was a very proud professional Truck Driver and member of Teamsters Local 251 and Local 829. He recently said he was a truck driver “before CDL’s existed”. One of his often told stories was how he got stuck at the old Cumberland Farms terminal in Marlborough MA for almost a week during the Blizzard of ‘78, because the local weatherman only predicted inches and instead there were feet of snow. He never quite trusted weather predictions again. To his fellow truckers he is “Signing off, safe travels”.
He was a lifelong motorcycle rider, and with Sue and friends spent many annual vacations in Laconia, NH for “bike week”. He still has a motorcycle and enjoyed tinkering with it. He also enjoyed his base station and CB radio. A music fan, Mike was happy to have been at one of Harry Chapins last concerts. He was also an amateur acoustic guitarist and keyboard player.
Michael V Hainey was born in Pawtucket RI at Memorial Hospital on July 24 1951. He is predeceased by his mother Theresa M. (Bechard) Hainey and his father Vincent L. Hainey both of RI. He is survived by his sister Rita (Hainey) Clement of Cumberland RI. He is also survived by loving family and friends who hold him in their hearts.
A private service for immediate family will be at later date.
