Riverside - Peter D. Giragosian, Sr. ,83, affectionately known to all as Pete, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Hope Hospice in Providence, Rhode Island. Born on October 26, 1940, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Pete was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and a great grandfather whose kindness and loving nature touched the lives of everyone around him.
The son of the late Solomon and Marion (Melikian) Giragosian, Pete grew up in a warm and nurturing household. He found his lifelong partner in Henrietta A. (Amaral) Giragosian, and their marriage was a testament to enduring love, having celebrated over 64 years of unity and companionship. Together, they built a family founded on love, respect, and joy.
Pete leaves behind a legacy through his children: Peter D. Giragosian, Jr. of Brownville, Maine; Mary Rourke and her husband James, Jr. of Killingly, Connecticut; and his daughter-in-law Lisa Giragosian of East Providence. He was predeceased by his son Todd Giragosian. He was a supportive brother to Paul and Richard Giragosian. His role as a patriarch extended to his adoring grandchildren Tanya, Jessica, Michelle, Shelby, Hunter, and Hailey, and he was blessed to see the world through the eyes of his great-grandchildren Alex, Tyler, Bella-Ann, Sydney-Rae, and Zackry. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
For over 40 years, Pete dedicated his professional life to Reid and Rico manufacturing, where he honed his skills and became an expert tool maker. His colleagues knew him as a man of great integrity and diligence, always ready to lend a hand or share his extensive knowledge.
Pete's interests were a reflection of his love for the outdoors and the simple joys of life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, finding solace and excitement in the beauty of nature. His hobby of scrapping metal was not only a testament to his resourcefulness but also to his ability to find value in the discarded, a skill that translated well into his personal philosophy of cherishing every moment and every person.
Above all, Pete was a family man. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his loved and cherished family members, sharing stories, and creating memories that would last a lifetime. His presence was a source of stability and love, and his guidance was sought after by many. The words that best describe Pete are loving, kind, and handy. He had a unique ability to fix almost anything, a metaphor for his larger role in the lives of those he loved.
Pete's impact on the world was quiet yet profound, and his absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His life was a beautiful tapestry of dedication, hard work, and affection, and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of his journey.
We bid farewell to a man of great virtue and warmth. Pete's story is not one of sorrow but of celebration—a celebration of a life well-lived and a man well-loved. May he rest in peace, knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us every day.
