Bristol - Phyllis Perry,92 a cherished and respected member of the Bristol community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the R.I. Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Born on January 26, 1932, in Gales Ferry, Connecticut, Phyllis lived a rich and fulfilling life, marked by her dedication to her family, her profession, and her many passions.
She was the beloved wife of the late Marvin D. Perry, and her legacy continues through her loving children: John J. Perry of North Providence, Christopher C. Perry and his wife Kathleen of Bristol, and Lynn Tipton and her husband Derek of Bristol. Phyllis's warmth and guidance also touched the lives of her brother William Sanford; her niece Ann Anesta; her nephews David and Thomas Perry; as well as her treasured grandchildren Allison, Anthony, Freddie, Christopher and Angela Tipton. Her joy was multiplied by her great-grandchildren Brigit, Landon, Anthony Jr., Jacob, Cove, and Caiden, who will all remember her with great affection.
Phyllis's journey of lifelong learning and service to others was exemplified by her academic achievements, culminating in a Master's degree. Her professional career was a testament to her caring nature; she served as a Registered Nurse at the R.I. Hospital for many years. Her compassion extended into the educational system as the School Nurse for the Town of Bristol, and she further contributed to the community as the Director of Welfare for the Town of Bristol. Phyllis's dedication to her community was unwavering, as evidenced by her 65 years of residency in Bristol, after moving from East Providence.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Phyllis was a master seamstress, creating beautiful old-fashioned hook rugs with her own designs and meticulously cut wool. She also found joy in knitting, a hobby that allowed her to express her creativity and love for her family through each stitch. Phyllis's adventurous spirit shone through her enjoyment of kayaking, fishing, and quahogging, embracing the natural beauty of Rhode Island's waters. An avid gardener, she nurtured her plants with the same kindness and generosity that she bestowed upon the people in her life.
Phyllis will be remembered as a kind and generous soul, always thoughtful in her actions and words. Her presence was a comfort to those who knew her, and her influence will be felt for generations to come. Her unwavering commitment to her family, her career, and her hobbies made her a pillar of strength and an inspiration to all.
In her passing, Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Phyllis Perry's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and joy, woven with the threads of her many contributions to the world around her. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to guide and comfort her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 8:30am – 9:30am IN St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in the church. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, 202 Smithfield Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
