East Providence - Rachel Michelle Bland, 47, known affectionately as Rachel by her loved ones, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. Born on May 12, 1977, in Providence, RI, Rachel lived a life marked by love, dedication, and passion.
Rachel was the beloved daughter of Wayne Bland of Smithfield, RI, and Laura (Santos) Graham, with her stepfather Robert Graham of North Providence by her side. She was a cherished granddaughter to Maria Gonsalves of East Providence. Her life was further enriched by the love of her son, Cameron Green of East Providence, who was the light of her life. As a sister, she shared an unbreakable bond with Toni Ellen Bland of East Providence, Chantee Bland of Bowling Green, VA, Angela McCoy of Laurel, Maryland, Wayne Bland, Jr. of North Providence, Darrell Rose of Cumberland, and Ryan Bland of Providence. Rachel's spirit will also live on through the many nieces and nephews, grand nieces, and grandnephews who will carry her memory in their hearts. Her cat Cream, whom she adored and cared for with great devotion, will miss her deeply.
Rachel was a proud alumna of the University of Rhode Island, where she earned her bachelor's degree in computer science. Her intellectual curiosity and commitment to her career led her to a longstanding role as an Insurance Agent/Manager at the Thompson Insurance Agency, where she served for over 22 years. Her professional excellence and leadership were hallmarks of her career, and she was well-respected by colleagues and clients alike.
Beyond her professional achievements, Rachel was very intelligent and was a woman of diverse interests and a heart full of love. She was an ardent supporter of the East Providence Junior Townies, embodying the spirit of a true football mom. Her enjoyment of cats was well known, as was her joy in spending quality time with her family and cousins, who were like siblings to her. Rachel's selfless nature and passionate involvement in the lives of her family and friends made her a central figure in the community.
Loving, selfless, and passionate are the words that best describe Rachel. She approached every aspect of her life with a generous heart and an infectious enthusiasm that uplifted those around her. Rachel's legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and the enduring power of familial bonds., She was an incredible, amazing woman loved by all.
Rachel's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, yet her spirit and the memories she created will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration. As we say farewell to Rachel Michelle Bland, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible impact she made on the lives of so many. Her journey through life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit.
May Rachel rest in peace, knowing that her life was a beautiful tapestry of relationships, accomplishments, and moments that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be held in the highest regard, and her presence will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346 Waterman Avenue, East Providence. A burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at the funeral home.
