Raymond Daniel McMahon

North Providence -Raymond Daniel McMahon, affectionately known as Ray to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at home in North Providence, Rhode Island. Born on August 24, 1955, in Pawtucket, Ray was a man whose presence was felt deeply by those who knew him. He was the beloved husband of the late Laurie (Sousa) DiPietro McMahon, and the cherished son of the late Raymond and Anna (Calise) McMahon.

Ray's life was defined by his dedication to his family, his country, and his work. As a former husband to Debra Carvalho of East Providence, Ray was a supportive and loving figure in the lives of his children: Melissa McMahon of Pawtucket, Jason Hannan of San Francisco, Joseph McMahon of Florida, and Raymond McMahon, Jr. of East Providence. He was also a caring stepfather to Jason DiPietro of Cranston and remembered the late David DiPietro in his heart. Ray's role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, and he will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Dante Williams, Juliette Raye Bollwage, and Joseph Daniel Hernandez.

Ray's brother, Paul McMahon, along with many nieces and nephews, survive him. They all recall his infectious laughter and the skillful hands that could fix anything they brought to him.

Before retiring, Ray was a proud truck driver for over 35 years, working for J.F. Moran Trucking. His work was not just a job but a testament to his reliability and strength. Ray also served his country as a U.S. Army veteran, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie.

After moving to North Providence seven years ago from East Providence, Ray quickly became known as a man of many interests. His passion for riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle spoke of his adventurous spirit. Ray's creativity shone through in his handywork; there was no task too complex for him to tackle. His love for animals was evident in the care he provided for his dogs and cats, and his coin collection was a hobby that he pursued with meticulous detail. Football season was a special time for Ray, as he enjoyed watching the games and sharing the excitement with his friends and family.

Ray will be remembered as a man who was not only handy and creative but also adventurous. His life's journey was marked by his willingness to explore new horizons and his ability to create and nurture lasting bonds with those around him.

As we say goodbye to Raymond Daniel McMahon, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. His legacy will continue to live on through the memories shared and the lives he touched. Ray's indomitable spirit and his enduring love for his family will remain as a guiding light for all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, yet we take comfort in knowing that his journey was one of fulfillment and love.

Military Honors will be performed on Saturday March 14, 2026, at 10:00am at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.
