Rita Cabral Orlowski, affectionately known as Rita to all who knew her, passed away peacefully at her home in Sao Miguel, Azores, on December 19, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on March 18, 1960, in Sao Miguel, Rita was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother whose generosity and faith left a lasting impact on her community.
Rita was the cherished daughter of Leonilde (Pavao) Cabral of Sao Miguel and was predeceased by her father, Jose Maria Cabral. She grew up in a close-knit family and shared an unbreakable bond with her brothers, Jose and his wife Lucia Cabral of Pawtucket, and Paulo Cabral of Cumberland. Rita's nurturing spirit extended to her role as a doting aunt to Jason, Andrew Mitchell, and Hurricayne, and she was a beloved grandmother to Alexis, whom she adored with all her heart.
For many years, Rita dedicated her professional life to the Great Encounters Company, where she excelled as an office manager. Her colleagues revered her for her work ethic, efficiency, and the warmth she brought to the workplace every single day. Rita's commitment to her career was paralleled only by her involvement in her community, where she was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
Having lived the last seven years of her life in Portugal, Rita returned to her roots after spending a significant part of her life in Pawtucket. This return to Sao Miguel allowed her to immerse herself in the culture and community that she held dear, and she embraced her heritage with pride and joy.
Rita's interests were as diverse as they were rich. She found solace in the rituals of faith and the fellowship of her church. Her loving nature was evident in the care she took of her family and the generosity she extended to her friends and community members. Rita's faith-filled life was a testament to her belief in the goodness of people and the importance of compassion.
Those who knew Rita would describe her as the epitome of love and generosity. Her presence was a source of comfort and her guidance a beacon of light for many. Rita's unwavering faith carried her through life's challenges and inspired those around her to live with kindness and gratitude.
Rita's life was a beautiful tapestry of the relationships she nurtured, the lives she touched, and the memories she created. Her legacy of love and selflessness will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
As we bid farewell to Rita, we celebrate a life well-lived and a soul that truly embodied the virtues of love, generosity, and faith. Her memory will be cherished and her spirit will continue to guide us. Rita's departure from this world is not an end, but a beginning of a new chapter in the lives of those she has influenced, as they carry forward the lessons and love she has imparted.
Rita Cabral Orlowski will be greatly missed, but the impact of her life's work and the warmth of her personality will resonate for generations to come.
