Riverside - Ronald J. Perez,75, known affectionately as Ron, passed away on Saturday June 7, 2025, at the RI Hospital in Providence, embraced by the love of his family and the community he had built around him. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, on May 11, 1950, Ron was a man whose passion and enthusiasm for life were as vibrant as the colors he used in his painting business.
Ron was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Lorraine (Lanni) Perez, sharing a remarkable journey of over 55 years together. Their bond was not only evident in their loving partnership but also in the harmonious music they created with their band, "Lorraine and the Time Bandits." He was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Viola (Haskins) Perez and a caring brother to Irving Perez of North Providence. Ron was also predeceased by his siblings Joseph, Albert, Raymond, Harold Perez, Tina Casey, and Viola Burgess. His memory will be treasured by his numerous nieces and nephews, especially his great-great-nephew Jordan James Shaw, who had the privilege of living with him.
Ron's entrepreneurial spirit was demonstrated through his successful ownership and operation of Ron Perez Painting for over five decades. His commitment to his craft and his clients was unparalleled, and his work brightened the homes and lives of many in his community. A long-time resident of Riverside, he had planted his roots there for over 48 years after moving from Providence, and his presence was felt throughout the town.
His contributions to the community extended beyond his business. As a member of the East Warren Rod and Gun Club, Ron shared his love for the outdoors with fellow enthusiasts. His interests were as diverse as his talents; he was an avid fisherman, boater, clammer, and quahogger. The thrill of the open road called to him, and he answered by riding his motorcycles and nurturing his '28 Willys pickup, a testament to his appreciation for classic vehicles. Alongside his wife, he ran the car show at Crescent Park for over 12 years, bringing together car aficionados from all walks of life.
Ron's creativity was not confined to his painting or his music. His love for lighthouses was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his nature—a guiding light, steadfast and reliable. Those who knew Ron would describe him as loving, friendly, and creative. He had a knack for making people feel at ease, and his creative energy was contagious.
Ron's legacy is one of love, music, and color. As he joins his family members who have passed before him, he leaves behind a world that is brighter for his having been in it. His love story with Lorraine, his dedication to his family, and his passion for life will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. Ron J. Perez will be deeply missed, but the melodies he created and the hues he left behind will resonate for generations to come.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 9:00am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in St. Brendan Church,60 Turner Avenue, Riverside.
