East Providence - It is with profound sorrow and loving remembrance that the family of Stephany P. (Furtado) Simas announces her unexpected, peaceful passing on Wednesday February 14, 2024, at the Women and Infants Hospital in Providence. Born on February 25, 1984, in Providence, Rhode Island, Stephany was a beacon of warmth and kindness throughout her 39 years of life.
Stephany, affectionately known to all who loved her, was the cherished wife of Robert Simas. Their beautiful bond of love and friendship, which blossomed over their eight years together and four years of marriage, was a testament to their unwavering commitment to each other. She was the beloved daughter of Jose F. and Maria E. (Pacheco) Furtado of Providence, who instilled in her the values of love and family that she carried throughout her life.
A devoted sister, Stephany is survived by Kevin P. Furtado and his wife Heather (Gomes) of Riverside. Her role as a stepmother to Justin Simas of East Providence and Meagan Sousa of East Providence was embraced with the same love and dedication she gave to all aspects of her life. Stephany's joyous spirit lives on in her nieces, Isabella Rose Furtado and Juliannah Lee Furtado, both of Riverside, and her step-grandchildren Juliana Sousa, Kayden Sousa, Sophia Simas, and Brylan Simas. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Ida McKenna of Pawtucket.
For over 25 years, Stephany served with compassion and professionalism in patient registration at Women and Infants Hospital, Providence. Her dedication to her work was only matched by her devotion to her family and friends. A lifelong resident of East Providence, she was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church, where she lived her faith through action and prayer.
Stephany's zest for life was evident in her love of travel and cruising, which she often joked was her preferred method of exploration. A trip to the casino was always an adventure she relished, as much for the games of chance as for the laughter shared with loved ones. A voracious reader, she found solace and excitement in the pages of her favorite books.
The heart of her home, Stephany was the mastermind behind the annual family, friends, and children’s gatherings that became cherished traditions. Her ability to bring joy to children was a gift she gave freely, earning her a special place in the hearts of many. An animal lover, particularly of dogs, she shared her home and heart with her furry friends, who were as much a part of her family as anyone.
Stephany's legacy is one of laughter, passion, and faith. Her sense of humor was as infectious as her smile, and her passion for life inspired all who knew her. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and joys.
In remembrance of Stephany, we reflect on a life lived with a loving heart, a kind soul, and a wise spirit. She leaves behind a world that was undeniably brighter for her presence. Her laughter, her love, and her wisdom will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
As we say goodbye to Stephany, we celebrate the profound impact she has had on all our lives. Her spirit will continue to guide and comfort us as we hold her memory close to our hearts. Stephany P. (Furtado) Simas will be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, sister, stepmother, aunt, step-grandmother, and friend. Her radiant light, though no longer present in this world, will shine on in the lives of those she touched.
