Yvonne McGurn Obituary

East Providence - Yvonne (Lema) McGurn, 85, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023, at Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation in Providence, surrounded by her family Born on June 2, 1938, in Providence, the daughter of the late Charles and Hilda (Medeiros) Lema. Yvonne's life was marked by kindness, selflessness, and an unwavering love for her family.

Yvonne was the cherished wife of James L. McGurn, Sr. Their love story spanned many decades, filled with laughter, shared dreams, and enduring companionship. Yvonne's love extended to her children, James L. McGurn, Jr., of East Providence, and daughter Lisa McGurn, also of East Providence. She was a beacon of love and support, guiding her family through life's joys and challenges with grace and unwavering devotion.

As a sister, Yvonne shared a special bond with Charles Lema and David Lema, both of East Providence. She was also the sister of the late Virginia Curvelo and the late Robert Lema. Yvonne's siblings held a special place in her heart, and she cherished the shared childhood memories, family gatherings, and the unique bond that only siblings can understand.

Yvonne was a proud grandmother, cherishing each moment spent with her four grandchildren and three great  grandchildren. She delighted in their accomplishments, celebrated their milestones, and provided a comforting presence in their lives. Her grandkids will remember her for her warmth, her stories, and the endless cookies she baked just for them.

In her professional life, Yvonne was a dedicated Typesetter for the Coronet Engraving Company. Her meticulous nature and attention to detail served her well in this role. She later worked for Citizens Bank as a Teller for many years, where her kind demeanor and willingness to go the extra mile were greatly appreciated by customers and colleagues alike.

Yvonne's interests were simple and pure - she was family-oriented through and through. She found joy in the simple things - a family dinner, a grandchild's laughter, a quiet moment with her husband. She was the heart of the family, her love and care weaving a strong bond that held everyone together.

Yvonne will be remembered as a woman of great kindness and selflessness. Her actions spoke louder than words, and her constant acts of love and care touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a woman who loved deeply, laughed freely, and lived fully. Her legacy of love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

In the face of loss, we find comfort in remembering the life Yvonne lived - a life filled with love, kindness, and selflessness. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life, remembering the joy she brought to our lives and the love she so generously gave.
